Transportation

  • The Alaskan Way Viaduct and Seawall Replacement Project:   WSDOT, the Federal Highway Administration and the City of Seattle are working to replace the Alaskan Way Viaduct and Seawall. WSDOT and the City are moving forward on early safety and mobility improvements (pdf 664 Kb) in the north and south end that will fix approximately 55 percent of the seismically vulnerable viaduct.   ( Project purpose, partners, results, benefits, timeline, funding, and environmental protection are explored as well as pubic involvement and contact information.)
  • SR 520 - Bridge Replacement and HOV Project:  WSDOT, the Federal Highway Administration, and Sound Transit are considering the 6-Lane replacement alternatives for the windstorm and earthquake vulnerable current bridge.   ( Project purpose, partners, results, benefits, timeline, funding, and environmental protection are explored as well as public involvement and contact information.)
  • I-5 - Roanoke Vicinity Noise Wall Project:  WSDOT is in the design phase for Stage 3 Roanoke Park and Eastlake I-5 noise walls . (Project purpose, partners, results, benefits, timeline, funding, and environmental protection are explored as well as public involvement and contact information.)
  • Mercer Corridor Project:  SDOT is completing a federal Environmental Assessment for Two-way Mercer Street and began the design phase in 2006.   (P roject description, benefits, graphics, maps, video simulation, and details of the  Mayor's Action Agenda for South Lake Union  are provided .)

  • Multifamily Zoning Update Provides an overview of m ultifamily zoning requirements and the goals of land use code reform.   ( Links to focus group information and meeting notes, the Neighborhood Business District Strategy, alternative housing choices, Seattle's Comprehensive Plan, multifamily zoning maps, key city contact, and various other related documents are provided.)
  • Shoreline Alternative Mitigation Plan Describes plan implementation changes that change the way some projects can satisfy requirements to provide public access or to protect the shoreline environment.  Area included is between the Hiram Chittenden Locks and the Montlake Cut where the Salmon Bay, Ship Canal, Lake Union, and Portage Bay are found.   (Plan overview, background, events and activities, related links, and contact information are provided.)
