with $4.5 million?
v
Sidewalks?
v

Thanks to Bridging the Gap, your
neighbors have nominated these types of projects for funding. You can make a difference in
deciding how the $4.5 million available for neighborhood
transportation projects gets spent.
At an open house near you, come
to learn about the nominated projects in your area and help
determine which transportation projects will be built in your
neighborhood. All
open houses will be held from 5 to 8

Seeking artists for Seattle's transfer
stations
The Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, in partnership
with Seattle Public Utilities (SPU), seeks two artists for artist
residencies - one at the city's North Transfer Station and one at
its South Transfer Station - to study the facilities' operations, to
develop temporary artworks and to create permanent artworks to
enhance future replacement facilities.
The call is open to professional artists working in Washington,
Oregon, Idaho, Montana, California and British Columbia. The budget
for each artist residency is $140,000. Application deadline is
Friday, September 28.
Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) provides a reliable water supply
to more than 1.3 million customers in King County and provides
essential sewer, drainage, and solid waste services to city of
Seattle customers. SPU considers its existing solid waste recycling,
transfer and disposal facilities, constructed in the 1960's, to be
outdated, worn out, and lacking flexibility to meet the city's
current and future solid waste goals, and there are plans in the
works to upgrade these facilities. The city's goal is to recycle 60
percent of its garbage by 2012, and to reach 70 percent recycling by
2025. |
