SR 520 Bridge
Replacement and HOV Project
SR 520 Project approaches key milestone. Most
Puget Sound residents
are aware that the SR 520 bridge is vulnerable to earthquakes and
windstorms, and that the SR 520 corridor is regularly congested. The
Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is steadily
moving forward on the SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Project, and
now is the time to make a decision on a replacement. Identifying a
preferred alternative for replacing the bridges and improving the
corridor from I-5 to I-405 is a key milestone for the project and
our region.
To inform this milestone decision, WSDOT has
published a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). A public
comment period for the Draft EIS lasts through October 2,
2006, and WSDOT would like your comments during this
time. To find out how you can get a copy of the document and how to
provide comments, visit the project Web site at www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/SR520Bridge.
Save the Date:
September Draft EIS public hearings:
Two public hearings will be held along the
project corridor during the Draft EIS comment period. You will be
able to speak directly with the project team, view information
presented in the Draft EIS, and comment on the document at these
meetings.
